Well, some of this year's New Year drudgery is finished: recording and tallying of art income for 2014. Last year's total surpassed that of 2013, but my best year so far is still 2012, the first year I decided to start taking on paid commissions.
I won't go into details here, but due to the increase in income, I will more than likely attend RICC this coming November. No, I did not turn a profit last year at that con, but to be fair there was a rather large startup cost involved. I have the inventory and signage now.
Artist interviews always piss me off.....
And I'm gonna tell all y'all why. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk. Every single time I read an "interview" with a popular, online digital artist, my blood boils. Always something about "humble beginnings" and "working hard", then somehow meeting someone powerful in the industry who opens the door wide open for them. And the advice is always the same. "Find your niche, then find the buyers who are interested" which basically means "know your brand". "Stay current on social media and keep posting new artwork, and use all the relevant tags". "Don't ever work for free, find good clients and have contracts". "Do what you love, don't give up, and don't overwork. Eventually it will all come to you". Well, let me tell y'all something. I've been doing this 3D "thing" since 2006. I'm not even making peanuts. I have two regular donators/subscribers, and have landed a whopping single commission since January 1st of this year. That's going to work out to be the worst year since I started
The Almighty Algorithm.....
The Almighty Algorithm has eviscerated my online art presence.
Just mull that over for a bit.
I have been saying it for years.
No matter where I post, what I post, or how often I post it, if the Platform doesn't like my content, the Algorithm will hide it and you won't fucking see it.
I've largely given up the game. But that doesn't mean I'm not pissed off about it.
I have had fans for years now, who have told me they don't see my posts. How can that be, when my artwork is so prolific?
The Almighty Algorithm. It has fucked me without the benefit of a reach-around.
Luna saved my life
Some of you may by now, know that I just finished my first completed render in about a month. The reason for my absence is in that post, and if you look hard enough you'll see some of the anguish I have been feeling for over two years now. But tonight, as I have just posted the new Luna render, I want to share with you all what I wrote on Facebook.
"Whether or not it is in anyone else's eyes, I am calling this a milestone. I decided that when I return to 3D, I was going to render Luna again. And not just any old render. I set out to revisit her first ever portrait. Currently, the original is my most popular post on DeviantArt; Although that
New store at RenderHub
So for those who haven't noticed yet, I opened a new storefront recently at RenderHub. Link is here:

Right now I am running a promotion: JUNELAUNCH25 for 25% off my entire store! Good until June 27th, so time grows short!
I have five items up so far, a sixth item is currently in the approval stage. And I have been slowly adding to my gallery there. Right now I'm selling DAZ Studio content, but once my submissions are finished, I'll re-package all the OBJs so that everyone can have a crack at them.
In other news, which is related to this, I landed a commission a week ago. I worked with an adorable goth,
